Rebates Available for Vermont Maple Sugar Makers to Save on Energy Costs
Efficiency Vermont offers a number of rebates to help maple sugar makers throughout the state increase the energy efficiency of their operations and reduce their spending on fuel. 2016 rebates on qualifying reverse osmosis installations. Maple sugar makers with a minimum of 400 taps, or 100 gallons of annual production are eligible for a rebate. Up to $3,250 is available per system depending on the size of the equipment. Read More

Food Waste Gets Second Life as Renewable Energy on Dairy Farm
Blue Spruce Farm in Bridport, Vermont has a farm waste digester, which converts manure, food waste and farm by-products into natural fertilizer and energy to power 400 to 500 homes. They will soon be piloting a new project with Casella Organics to help communities understand the importance of properly separating food waste so that it can be collected and turned into a mixture that can be fed into the farm digester. Sodexo's "Vermont First" Initiative on Track, Bringing More Local Food to VT Colleges and Universities
Sodexo's Vermont First local food purchasing results for 2015 are in! Sodexo, which serves the food at many of Vermont's colleges and universities, spent $3.22 million purchasing locally-grown food in 2015. That constitutes 15.4 percent of the food purchased at Sodexo's 15 Vermont accounts. Read More
