Farmland Conserved and Water Quality Protected in Newport and Troy
Two family dairies—one large and one small—worked with the Vermont Land Trust to conserve farmland in Newport and Troy. In both cases, selling conservation restrictions helped to offset the expense of recently purchased farmland. The projects were funded in part through a new federal program aimed at protecting the Lake Champlain watershed.

Branon Family Maple Orchards Buys and Conserves 2000+ Acres in Bakersfield
The Vermont Land Trust and The Nature Conservancy sold 2,080 acres of forestland in Bakersfield. This is the first parcel to sell since the two groups announced they would be selling forestland held jointly as the Atlas Timberlands Partnership. The land was permanently conserved at the time of the sale.

Vermont Agency of Agriculture Announces Adjusted Fee Schedule
The Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food, and Markets (VAAFM) has announced its adjusted fee schedule, which has been approved by the legislature and will go into effect July 1, 2016. The new fee schedule is available online at agriculture.vermont.gov/licensing-registration/fees .

Vermont Farm Show Supports the 2016 Farm and Agricultural Resource Management Stewards (FARMS) 2+2 Scholarship Program
The Vermont Farm Show has announced it will support the Farm and Agricultural Resource Management Stewards (FARMS) 2+2 Scholarship program for the next 4 years. The Farm Show has committed $43,000 to the FARMS 2+2 Scholarship program, which provides scholarships to young Vermonters who are pursuing dairy careers.

Intervale Center's Fair Share Program Seeks Income Eligible Members!
The Intervale Center Fair Share program runs for 16 weeks (July 11th-October 31st) with CSA style pickups every Monday at the Intervale Center from 2:30-4:30pm. The food is from Intervale farms and other farms in Chittenden County and has been gleaned by Intervale Center staff and volunteers. All CSA members' gross income must fall at or below 185% of the U.S. Poverty Income Guidelines, the same income eligibility for 3SquaresVT and WIC.
