Job Description

The Agriculture Development Division seeks a highly motivated individual to work as part of a team in support of Vermont agricultural and food businesses. This position is a key part of the Marketing Team and will play a major role in a variety of events and programs intended to promote the Vermont brand. This position serves as co-manager of the Vermont Building, a public-market style building that operates during the Big E fair in Springfield, MA. In support of this event, this position is responsible for managing vendor relations and communications, is required to be onsite for part of the fair, and will operate as lead building manager for multiple days before and during the 17-day event. This position will also coordinate the Trade Show Assistance and Fairs and Field Days grant programs, work closely with a variety of partners to support Vermont’s agritourism sector, and provide support for export market focused activities.

Given the complex nature of event management, applicants for this position should be confident, able to adapt to last-minute changes, problem-solve quickly in the moment, and be comfortable interacting with the public in busy environments. This position will engage in marketing and outreach communications efforts on multiple platforms, inclusive of written and printed materials, and will contribute to the strategic plan and goals of the Marketing Team and the Development Division through a variety of projects and work groups. This is a dynamic and exciting position that requires an individual who is self-motivated, capable of rapidly shifting priorities, and willing to take on new challenges with enthusiasm.

The Specialist I position is an entry-level role in the Development Division and is suitable for candidates with a variety of backgrounds and experience. We welcome applicants who represent diverse educational and work history and can bring energy, enthusiasm, and excellence to their work. Successful applicants will possess strong verbal and written communication skills, be highly organized, and have keen attention to detail.
