Join the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps, NOFA-VT and the Nulhegan Band of the Coosuk Abenaki Nation in a celebration that will include corn and bean processing, tasting of Abenaki crops, live demonstrations, and tours of the farm.
The Harvest Festival is the culmination of this season's Abenaki Land Link Project, in which folks around the state of Vermont volunteered to grow crops from traditionally saved Abenaki seeds. The crops are then used in the Abenaki Helping Abenaki food program, which supports food security for the Nulhegan Band of the Coosuk Abenaki Nation.
The Abenaki Land Link project formed in 2020 when the Nulhegan Band of the Coosuk Abenaki Nation partnered with NOFA-VT and Vermont Farm to Plate's Rooted in Vermont program to tackle the problems of food security and food sovereignty among native peoples in Vermont.
