Vermont Fresh Network Presents The Great Vermont Picnic
Celebrate the farmer-chef connection across the state this August
RICHMOND, VT (July 30, 2020) - Vermont Fresh Network (VFN) is excited to announce The Great Vermont Picnic, a month-long celebration of the farmer-chef connection. Kicking off on August 1st, local food lovers are encouraged to support Vermont’s restaurants and food producers, while enjoying the outdoors this summer.
The Great Vermont Picnic celebrates the summer bounty of our state and aims to increase business to local restaurants and other food & beverage producers during this serious crisis when sales are much lower than they would normally be,” said VFN Executive Director, Tara Pereira. “We want folks to support our local food sector and explore the beauty of our state,” she adds.
Plan your Picnic:

Order takeout from any local restaurant. Support our state’s restaurants and let someone else do the cooking. Be sure to pair your meal with a local beverage, cheese, fruit, or other choice Vermont products to-go.

Choose your picnic spot. Many Vermont farms are open to the public, consider a state park, lake, or your own backyard.

Share your experience. Snap a photo and tag #vermontpicnic and the farms and restaurants you supported with your purchases. Share photos on Instagram to be entered in a ticket giveaway to Vermont Fresh Network’s 25th Annual Forum Dinner in 2021.

Like many nonprofits, Vermont Fresh Network had to cancel their Annual Forum Dinner fundraiser. To help raise funds for their work with restaurants and farms, VFN has launched a GoFundMe campaign alongside The Great Vermont Picnic. Local food supporters are encouraged to purchase a small "donation ticket" to help cover the membership dues of a VFN restaurant.
