The Vermont Farm Show Seeks a Contractor to Lead Statewide Stakeholder Engagement Process

The Vermont Farm Show is looking to hire a contractor to coordinate and execute a statewide, stakeholder engagement and information gathering process to define the future of the Vermont Farm Show.

The Vermont Farm Show has been serving Vermont farmers since the 1930s with an annual gathering of farmer association meetings, a tradeshow of diverse service providers, a product competition, and most recently a “consumers night” farmers market. It has been a mid-winter event connecting farmers and folks of all ages, representing and celebrating a cross-section of farming in Vermont.

It has been four years since the Vermont Farm Show held its signature event, and the Board of Trustees has been asking itself for a few years - what does Vermont need and want from an annual farm show?

It is clear that farming in Vermont is changing, it has been for years. What farms look like, who is farming, and what they are producing is much different than it was 30 years ago, even 10 years ago. And, the changing of the climate is affecting how and what Vermont farms produce.

It is time for a broad, statewide stakeholder engagement and information gathering process to occur to inform what a future Farm Show should be to best serve all who farm and eat in Vermont.

Deadline for proposals is September 15th. A link to read the Vermont Farm Show’s request for proposal can be viewed on its website here: www.vtfarmshow.com.
