New B Corp Trail launches on DigInVT.com
Vermont culinary trail highlights Vermont’s businesses that support a more sustainable economy
Richmond, VT (September 19, 2019) — Vermont Fresh Network (VFN) invites the public to explore a new DigInVT.com culinary trail that features ten of Vermont’s most notable businesses. The B Corp - Taste the Power of Positive Change Trail takes visitors and travelers on a journey across the state. It includes stops from Dummerston to Norwich from Waterbury to Burlington, where they can explore, sample and support companies that are constantly working to redefine success and build a more inclusive and sustainable economy.
VFN worked with Cabot Creamery Co-operative, the world’s first cheese maker and dairy cooperative to achieve B Corporation Certification, and other B Corp companies around the state to build a tour that visits ten Vermont favorites: Ben & Jerry’s, Cabot Creamery Co-operative, Lake Champlain Chocolates, Gardener’s Supply Company, King Arthur Flour, The Alchemist, and Scott Farm Orchard.
“Vermont is home to best in class farms, food, restaurants, and, of course, companies—thanks to Vermont’s thriving Certified B Corp community,” said Anthea Kelsick, Chief Marketing Officer for B Lab, the non-profit which administers B Corp Certification. “These are leading brands that are committed to creating value for their employees, communities, and the environment. We hope everyone spends some time exploring the B Corp Trail this fall and beyond.”
“We are thrilled to work with our Vermont Fresh Network B Corp certified members and other B Corp certified Vermont businesses to feature destinations that offer both a delicious experience, and believe in the triple bottom line mission of people, planet, and profit,” said Tara Pereira, Executive Director of the Vermont Fresh Network, which manages the DigInVT.com website, the online home of the B Corp Trail.
Certified B Corporations are businesses around the world that meet rigorous and independent standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. B Lab, a non-profit organization based in Berwyn, Penn., uses its B Impact Assessment to certify B Corps much the same way Fair Trade USA certifies Fair Trade® coffee.
Visitors can plan their own personalized route using the B Corp Trail by visiting DigInVT.com to see all participating businesses. For more information visit DigInVT.com. For businesses interested in learning more about becoming a B Corp, visit bcorporation.net/
