USDA announces May 14 App Deadline for high tunnels, irrigation
Colchester, Vermont, March 22, 2021-- The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service in Vermont announced today that up to $200,000 in financial assistance is available through the Agricultural Management Assistance (AMA) program for eligible producers to implement conservation practices such as high tunnels, micro-irrigation and other specific irrigation and water related practices.
Through a collaboration with the USDA Risk Management Agency (RMA), the two agencies will use NRCS experience in providing technical and financial assistance to distribute these funds using NRCS conservation program contracts.
This AMA sign-up opportunity in Vermont will prioritize funding opportunities for historically underserved groups, such as new and beginning farmers, socially disadvantaged farmers, and veteran farmers. These producers are eligible for up to 90% payment rates based on NRCS practice scenarios.
Interested applicants are encouraged to contact their local NRCS field office by May 14, 2021.
