For the 6th consecutive year, the St. Albans Cooperative Creamery, Inc. has earned the top score for its Safe Qualified Foods (SQF) product certification.   SQF is a food safety and food quality assurance program that requires companies engaged in the production of food and food products to meet high, rigorous standards.

St. Albans went through a recertification audit that involved document review and employee interviews.  In addition, the SQF team responded to over 250 questions about our practices and procedures specific to food safety and food quality.  The audit also included a comprehensive internal and external facility inspection.

All of these areas of review were exceeded and St. Albans Cooperative once again obtained the certification score of “Excellent”.  According to the SQF Institute, only 5-6% of companies achieve this level.

“We are incredibly pleased with the outcome of this audit”, said Leon Berthiaume, Chief Executive Officer of the Cooperative. “The ability to earn this rating is indicative of the strength of our entire team and shared commitment to making sure that our plant meets the highest quality, environmental and safety requirements of SQF.”

The St. Albans Cooperative markets over a billion pounds of milk annually, processes 650,000,000 lbs. and sells products throughout the Northeast.
