Northeast SARE Invites Graduate Student Grant Applications, Due May 8

Burlington, VT -- The Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) Program announces its call for applications to the 2018 Graduate Student Grant program. These grants are for graduate students in the Northeast region who are researching the wide range of sustainable agriculture topics affecting farming in our region.

The online application system will open for submissions on April 2, 2018. Applications, with authorized signatures, are due by 11:59 p.m. ET on May 8, 2018. Funded projects will be announced in August 2018 and projects may begin at that time.

Northeast SARE Graduate Student Grants are open to any graduate student enrolled at an accredited college, university, or veterinary school located in the Northeast region. Applications should address issues of current or potential importance to Northeast farmers and the agricultural community including, but not limited to, cropping systems, pest management, livestock health, social sustainability on the farm, soil quality, farm energy production, farm labor, urban agriculture, and the marketing of local food. Reviewers look for projects that explore one or more of the sustainable agriculture themes of good stewardship, profitability, and quality of life for farmers and the farm community. The Northeast SARE region is made up of Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
