Inflation Reduction Act Community Change Grants Program

The USDA is providing a total of $14.4 million in grants and technical assistance through two projects that support urban agriculture and innovative production. $2.5 million is available for Urban Agriculture and Innovative Production (UAIP) grants. In partnership with the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA), USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) will award $11.9 million to promote the hiring of Urban Agriculture Conservation Extension Educators through the Cooperative Extension programs at Land-grant Universities. Recipients of UAIP grants may use funds in a wide range of activities that include both planning and implementation. Technical assistance to Land-grant universities will fund the hiring of Urban Agriculture Conservation Extension Educators in 27 cities nationwide who will link producers to NRCS conservation planning and program opportunities.
