Food Connects Welcomes New Farm to School Program Manager
Food Connects is excited to welcome Conor Floyd to their team as their Farm to School Program Manager.
A Brattleboro resident, Conor joins the team from Retreat Farm where he worked as the Associate Program Director building their education program. As part of his multifaceted role there, he created a standards-based curriculum that engages students visiting the farm, established year-round partnerships with area schools, and secured grant funding for these programs. Conor will coach schools in the Windham Central and Windham Northeast Supervisory Unions, as well as Riverside Middle School and Guilford Central School.
“I am excited to bring my skills and experience to Food Connects,” says Conor. “This is a wonderful opportunity to combine my passion for farm-based education with my strong community collaboration and program management skills.“ Conor’s background in program manager and project-based learning is an invaluable asset to growing the Food Connects Farm to School program.
In addition to his passion for Farm to School, Conor’s aim to make our Farm to School programming accessible to all students. “Farm to School positively impacts every facet of school life through a common thread. Oftentimes Farm to School programming is most beneficial to those students who struggle or are most in need; whether that is in the classroom or community through hands-on activities or creating healthier and more accessible food options for food-insecure students.”
“Conor is a great addition to our team,” says Richard Berkfield, Executive Director. “I am especially excited about his passion to support the efforts of public schools through coaching teams, working with the administration and looking at changes to policies and practices.”
Please extend a warm welcome to Conor as he visits your local school!
