Edible Green Mountains selected as 2015 Eddy Awards finalist

Edible Green Mountains is proud to announce that Maria Buteux Reade’s article “Compost Happens at Someday Farm” has been selected as a finalist for the 2015 Eddy Awards! That’s like receiving an Oscar nomination!

The EDDY Awards, sponsored by the Edible Communities, celebrate excellence in publishing—from food writing to coverage of social issues to exceptional photography and more. The awards reflect the voice of independent publishers covering local food, season by season.

A distinguished panel of more than 50 judges including nationally acclaimed chefs, authors, editors, farmers, activists and bloggers narrowed down a huge number of entries to arrive at the finalists. Each category will have 2 winners—Critics’ Choice and Readers’ Choice—and a finalist may win one or both.

Maria left a 27 year teaching career to work at Someday Farm in southern Vermont; she also is a freelance writer. According to one of the judges, “It's not easy to make composting sound interesting (especially when it can turn into a technical thing), but the small glimpse into life on a farm, along with a practical how-to on composting, makes the process sound appealing and attainable to even a new gardener.”

Edible Green Mountains is a quarterly publication and a member of the Edible Communities that cover more than 80 distinct culinary regions of the U.S. and Canada. The magazines focus on the people—farmers, fishers, chefs, vintners, food artisans—who live and work the land. These publications give voice to local food inspirations, trends and challenges, offering rare access to the most influential and interesting food and drink enthusiasts.
