Discover a Free Family Learning Experience This Summer at Breakfast on the Farm Events

Ferrisburgh, VT – Vermont’s Breakfast on the Farm returns with two events this summer where visitors can meet local dairy farmers and learn about where their food comes from – the first will be at Nea-Tocht Farm in Ferrisburgh on Saturday, June 25.

This free, public event includes a pancake breakfast, self-guided tours of the dairy farm and a peek into the life and business of farming in Vermont. While there is no cost to attend, tickets must be reserved in advance at www.VermontBreakfastOnTheFarm.com/get-tickets.

A family-owned and operated dairy, Nea-Tocht Farm is located at 28 Vander’s Way in Ferrisburgh, VT. Breakfast seating times will be on the hour, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

The 500-cow, 800-acre farm is owned and operated by Raymond and Linda Vander Wey, along with their five children and their grandchildren. The farm has earned acclaim for their high quality milk, and in 2000 won The New England Green Pastures Dairy Farm of the Year award.

“People will enjoy a delicious breakfast, meet the cows and see new technologies like our wind turbine and robotic milker,” said Raymond Vander Wey.

A second Breakfast on the Farm will be hosted by the Rowell family on August 27 at Green Mountain Dairy Farm in Sheldon, Vermont. Breakfast will also be served from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

The Vermont Agency of Agriculture is the lead organizing partner of Vermont Breakfast on the Farm. The goal is to provide a first-hand look at modern food production and the farm families who work hard to produce a safe, wholesome food supply for Vermont communities and the world. Learning and exploration is offered through educational stations. Knowledgeable volunteers will highlight how farmers care for the environment, their animals and their community.
