City Market Celebrates the Fall Season with Two Annual Events
City Market will be hosting two annual events this fall: the 14th annual Co-op Food Fest and the 5th Annual Harvest Run/Walk for Sustainability. From noon to 4pm on Sunday, September 25 at Union Station at 1 Main Street, City Market will be hosting their 14th annual Co-op Food Fest. This event gives patrons and visitors a chance to meet over four dozen local producers, sample delicious products for free, and learn all about where our local food comes from. In addition to meeting local farmers and food producers, attendees will have the opportunity to meet representatives from local non-profits that participate in City Market’s Community Outreach Program and learn about doing Member Work in our community. There will also be door prizes, face painting by Little Artsy Faces, free chair massages from Inner Source Massage and Bodywork, and live music by Hard Scrabble. The Co-op Food Fest is free to attend and sample and everyone is encouraged to stop by.
Following the Food Fest, on Sunday, October 9, from 9:00-11:30am in Burlington’s Intervale, the Sustainability Academy at Lawrence Barnes and City Market will be hosting the 5th annual Harvest Run/Walk for Sustainability. Through the generous contributions of Harvest Run participants, the Sustainability Academy will continue to be able to offer engaging place-based, service-learning, and project-based adventures in and around the community for their students. The event wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of the Intervale Center, Intervale Community Farm, Main Street Landing, Champlain College and JaniTech. Pre-registration for the Harvest Run/Walk for Sustainability ends Monday, October 3, but day-of registrations are welcome.
“I’m really looking forward to both Co-op Food Fest and the Harvest Run/Walk for Sustainability,” commented City Market Outreach and Education Manager, Sarah Bhimani. “We’re excited to be in a new venue right near Waterfront Park for the Food Fest, which will allow us to feature a diverse group of local producers and non-profit partners. I encourage everyone to stop in to meet some new people and try some delicious local foods!”
