$25K Neighborhood Assist Grant Applications Available
Want to make a contribution to your community, but don’t have the funds? Perhaps there’s a neighborhood playground in need of repair, a need for an adult literacy program, or a local high school teen driver safety program. Now, you have the power and the opportunity to win a $25,000 grant to make a difference! The State Farm Neighborhood Assist® grant program wants to support local communities like yours by identifying and addressing key issues they face every day.
State Farm Neighborhood Assist® is a crowd-sourced, philanthropic initiative designed to help communities determine where grant funding is awarded, exclusively through Facebook. The application is short and simple. and will be available on the Neighborhood Assist Facebook page (must have Facebook access to view) beginning March 9. See how this opportunity helped one New York community. You, or someone you know, could be the catalyst for positive change in your community.
The submission phase is open from March 9 – March 29 and each Facebook user who downloads the application can submit up to three causes – one per category. Anyone living in the U.S. with a Facebook account is eligible to submit. Submit early, as a maximum of 4,000 submissions will be accepted. Causes must fit the categories of safety, community development or education. In the interest of fairness and accessibility, returning grantees cannot win more than twice consecutively.
After the submission stage ends, the State Farm Youth Advisory Board (YAB), a group of college and high school students from across the country, will narrow down all of the submissions to the top 200 finalists. Here is what the YAB is looking for:
- How much does your “Cause” focus on an unmet need in your community?
- Why do you feel the $25,000 grant would address the unmet need?
- How much of a lasting impact on your community would the proposal make?
Once identified, the top 200 causes will appear on the Neighborhood Assist Facebook page to be voted on by you and members your community. The voting stage will last from May 14 – June 3, with each Facebook user allowed ten votes per day. The 40 causes with the most votes each receive a $25,000 grant. Winners will be announced June 16.
Please share this amazing opportunity with your colleagues, friends and family and help spread the word on social media. Together, you and State Farm can help create safer, stronger and better educated communities!
