2024 UVM Extension Master Composter Course - Registration Open!

Learn how to compost in upcoming online course!

Registration is now open through August 23 for UVM Extension's Vermont Master Composter course, designed to teach the basics of backyard composting.

Topics to be covered include compost ecology, benefits of composting, site design & management, compost systems & tools, using compost, community composting, volunteerism, and Vermont recycling policies.

The online course runs for eight weeks starting August 30; course materials will be available to participants until Nov 15. Two tracks are offered to meet participant needs: An at-your-pace track that allows participants to move through the course at their own leisure, and a volunteer certification track where participants are trained to become certified Vermont Master Composter volunteers and attend an in-person workshop and live discussion sessions with instructors offered via Zoom on Thursdays from 6-7:30 p.m., beginning September 5.
